To create footnotes, you need to first create the footnote using the Reference tools in Word, and then insert the EndNote citation into the footnote.
- Open the EndNote Library that contains the references you want to cite, along with the appropriate Word document
- Place the cursor at the end of the sentence for which you want your footnote.
- In Word, navigate to the References tab and select Insert Footnote. This will create a superscript number where your cursor was placed as well as a corresponding number in the footer.
- Click on the EndNote tab in Word and click Insert Citation and find the selected citation(s) from your EndNote Library.
EndNote will automatically insert both the footnote and create a bibliography entry at the end of your document. To add additional footnotes, repeat the process above.
