PSYC 135: Psychology of Multicultural Groups (Prof. Paulette Garcia Peraza)

Guide for course work in PSYC 135, Spring 2023

Begin here

This guide was created to educate students and the university community on topics related to culture and diversity. It was developed in collaboration with Melissa Cardenas-Dow, Dr. Paulette Garcia Peraza, and the students of Psychology of Multicultural Groups.

Under Resources to Expand Your Learning, you will find basic definitions of topics related to culture, student-created guides, and curated resources accessible through the library. The student-created guides were developed by previous students in PSYC 135 Psychology of Multicultural Groups. As part of the course, students were asked to pick a topic related to multicultural psychology and succinctly summarize information about that topic. Students could create the guide in various formats like fact sheets, reports, videos, and podcasts. Not all of the guides are presented in this resource. The student-created guides selected for this resource provided sufficient information about the topic, defined the topic according to psychology, and formatted it in a way that was easy for the reader to understand.

This is the first draft of this guide. It will be expanded and revised over time, as students continue to create these guides. We welcome any thoughts, suggestions, or corrections. Also, if you would like to know more about the guide or the class, please reach out to the instructor: Dr. Paulette Garcia Peraza garciaperaza@csus.edu
