The Juvenile Collection is located on Library Floor 2 South. 

This collection consists of:

  • Easy Readers
  • Picture Books
  • Juvenile Fiction 
  • Young Adult Fiction
  • Nonfiction 
  • Award Winner Alcove 

Fiction titles are arranged alphabetically by author last name and cutter number; they are shelved at the beginning of the collection. The juvenile nonfiction books are arranged by subject, using Dewey Decimal call numbers.  A complete collection of award winning juvenile titles can be found in the alcove next to this collection (see map). 

 

Juvenile Collection Call Numbers: Dewey Decimal System

The Juvenile Collection easy readers, picture books, fiction, and non-fiction use the Dewey Decimal classification system, which is also used by most primary schools and public libraries. 

Outline of Dewey Decimal System Subjects:

000 – Computer science, information & general works
100 – Philosophy and psychology
200 – Religion
300 – Social sciences
400 – Language
500 – Science
600 – Technology
700 – Arts and recreation
800 – Literature
900 – History, geography, and biography
