Overview
Since genealogist tend to focus on the past rather than the present, most periodical literature of interest resides in dusty paper or microfilm in depositories, archives and libraries in distant areas.
Journals
Genealogy articles are most likely to be found and accessed through a citation, external web link, or general internet search engine, such as Google. Some journals have become open source and offer back-file archives online.
The Annals of Genealogical Research is an open access journal for genealogy and family history. Many articles published here are narrowly-focused on a specific subject (such as a particular family), but some articles may be of wider interest to genealogists.
