Finding and Using Images

All of the materials found through DPLA—photographs, books, maps, news footage, oral histories, personal letters, museum objects, artwork, government documents, and so much more—are free and immediately available in digital format. Collection contains material from America's libraries, archives, museums, and other cultural heritage institutions.

Getty allows you to use many of their images without purchasing a license with their "Embed" feature. You must be using it for a non-commercial purpose (in other words, you cannot be selling a product, raising money or promoting something). After a search, use the filter to select "Embeddable images," then look for the EMBED button after you select an image.
