Censuses

The Individual Census, also referred to as the Census Schedules or Census of Names, provides records about individuals/families & their residencies during the decennial census. The Bureau releases this census 72 years after it conducted it in accordance with U.S. law. For a brief history and background, see Decennial Census Records - History - U.S. Census Bureau

From 1850-1930 are available in microfilm format in the first cabinet on the second floor. Web_Map_2 (csus.edu)

Starting with the 1940 Census, the Bureau makes these records available electronically at the National Archives and Records Administration.
