Manuals for Citing

The Bluebook a Uniform System of Citation is the standare guide for citing legal resources for the legal profession. It is only available in paper and is located behind the Reference desk.
However, most citing manuals provide their own format for citing legal material. Consult the manual recommended by your faculty.

For example, here are samples of how the American Sociological Association (APA) cites a U.S. court case and law.
   Court decision, case
      Lessard v. Schmidt, 349 F. Supp. 1078 (E.D. Wis. 1972)
      Mental Health Systems Act 42 U.S.C. § 9401 (1988)
