These instructions were written as a short introduction to using EndNote X3, but have been updated continuously to reflect changes to X8.

Science Direct (Elsevier) Print Page

Saving References

    1. Open EndNote and minimize it.
    2. Run your search in Science Direct.
    3. Mark each of the references by placing a check in the box, for those you wish to move to EndNote, then click on Export

    4. Select the radio button RIS (for EndNote, Reference Manager, Procite) located under Export file, then the Export button

    5. Depending upon your computer the references may export directly, or you may see an option for opening the ris file
  1. Open the ris file, or click on OK and the references should appear in your EndNote Library
