Open Access Peer-Reviewed Journals

These journals are free to access and do not require a paid subscription.

Subscription Peer-Reviewed Journals

These journals require payment to access them, and sometimes offer select content free of charge. The Library subscribes to many of these journals to make them available to Sac State students and employees for free. The journals with one asterisk (*) below are free to access through the Library using your Sac State account. Journals with two asterisks (**) are free to access, with the exception of the most recent year's articles. Use OneSearch to search for a specific journal article and see its access options, and feel free to reach out to us if you need any help.

Google Scholar

Google Scholar searches for references to scholarly articles and research papers. Sometimes the full text is posted online and linked, other times users will see a "Find It at Sac State" option next to the Google Scholar listing (see explanation above). Follow these instructions to configure Google Scholar to display the "Find It at Sac State" link. Except for the most simple queries, using Google Scholar Advanced Search is recommended.
