Topics in Archaeology - Repatriation

A current issue within Archaeology revolves around human remains and indigenous groups' rights to those remains. NAGPRA (Native American Grave Protection and Repatriation Act) was passed in 1990 and issued a mandate to those institutions holding Native American remains, funerary objects, sacred objects, and other culturally significant objects to return them to direct descendants or to the affiliated Native American group. The following list contains sources to looking at NAGPRA, repatriation of human remains, ethical issues in Archaeology, and the ongoing issue of Kennewick Man and his provenance.
