Welcome

Research is complete when the results have been shared with others. Traditionally researchers have used scholarly journals to distribute and archive their publications. In the social sciences, the most often used standard for formatting papers has been APA style. This guide gives examples of how to format the most common resources in your References list.

What is APA?

American Psychological Association or APA style is widely accepted in the Social Sciences. This guide is based on the 6th edition of the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association located in 1North Course Reserves at the User Services Desk: BF 76.7 P83 2010.

Corresponding sections in the Publication Manual are noted in square brackets [ ] in this guide.
